YSL Bleu Majorelle

Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) has got to be one of the most iconic brands in the history of fashion, and while most of us may not have a wardrobe stuffed with haute couture, we can all project that trademark YSL elegance, effortlessness and sophistication on our nails using YSL Nail Varnish (La Laque Couture).

Since I have a "thing" (Him indoors would probably call it more of an obsession and to be fair - he does have a point... ) for blue nail polish, I was immediately drawn to Bleu Majorelle. And really - can you blame me? Just LOOK at it!!!!!
YSL Nail Varnish - 18 Bleu Majorelle

Bleu Majorelle is a splendid, brilliantly intense and vibrant hue that just takes my breath away. The shade is named after Jacques Majorelle, the creator of Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech (owned by Yves Saint Laurent) and who painted several of the buildings there in this amazing colour.

The YSL nail polishes were relaunched with a new and improved formula a while back and although I never tried the previous version so I can't really compare, this one is wonderful. First of all the consistency is more substantial than many other polishes (some have a very watery feel to them), but at the same time it's very fluid, and together with the nice wide brush (which the polish seems to stick to somehow) application is so easy and it comes out evenly and streak free. In the photos I have used a high shine topcoat, but you can skip that if you're pressed for time since the polish itself gives a very glossy finish.

Unlike some other high end brands this nail polish is long lasting and is most definitely worth its price and I would recommend it to anyone. If you're not keen on bright dramatic shades, don't worry - the YSL colour range is great and includes lots of options from the dramatic to the nude/neutral.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit Marrakech, you should go and spend some time in the lush Jardin Majorelle to enjoy the serenity of the garden and its fountains, and witness Majorelle Blue in all its glory. As a second best - get this nail polish and be your own artist by colouring your world blue.

I visited the Jardin Majorelle back in June and I'm so glad there's a polish in that blue colour because I remember thinking how pretty it was when I was there.
