The most important thing for me when it comes to lip balms is that it gives a deep sense of hydration that lasts as long as possible and if it happens to have a lovely yummy flavour, it's a welcome bonus point. Since I always use lip balms as a primer under lip stick or lip gloss, I prefer them to be without any color, but it is also nice to have a tinted lip balm for those lazy days when you can't be bothered with makeup but you still don't want to look like death warmed up. I have tried a lot of different lip balms and almost all of them have been budget buys. Since they've done a decent job at keeping my lips moisturised I've never really seen the point in splurging on premium brands - at least that is until I tried the Gatineau DefiLift 3D Perfect Design Revolumising Lip Care.
As the balm isn't sticky you can use it on its own, as a primer under lipstick or as a lip gloss. Because of the firming effects, you can also use it as a lip contour mask, adding a generous layer and then just let it sink in for the next 10-15 mins or so. This will reduce the appearance of any small lines or wrinkles by giving a filling effect an boosting the lip contours. At £22, this lip care product is definitely not a budget buy, but keep in mind that you're getting not only a lip balm but also a long lasting plumping product and a lip contour mask enriched with anti-ageing properties. If you don't want to waste this great lip balm during the day, you can do what I do and use it as a treatment overnight so you wake up in the morning with lovely plumped lips, all ready for your favourite lipstick.
Not thrilled about the price tag for such a small tube, but as you said you can use it in different ways. I would use it like you as a overnight treatment.

I know - it's definitely something you would pay for a lip balm that you apply 5 times a day, so because it's long lasting it's great to use as a primer :o). Xx
Deletenice, but the price is really high

Hi Michele - it's not cheap that is true, butif you get it from QVC you actually get two for £29 - which is a great deal! Xx

ReplyDeleteIt's a really great products and worth while getting as a treatment :o). Xx
DeleteAnother lip balm addict here - this one sounds really great, I've never tried it but will look out for it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful balm, and I also recommend that you try it as a lip mask - it's amazing for the lip contours :o). Xx
DeleteI think it is better to buy a balm like this than those expensive but useless lip plumping glosses...
ReplyDelete..xoxo..great post C!

I'm so glad we have another fan :o)! For sure, and fair enough it's not the most affordable lip balm, but you know you can expect excellent quality from it. Xx
DeleteI guess I will try once but will not be a purchase habit due to the price.

I haven't used Gatineau before, but this lip balm sounds fab, as I worry about anti-aging and there is always treatments and creams for the eyes, but the poor lips get forgotten! and I for one don't want to get a mouth that looks like a cats bottom!
ReplyDeleteOne for the christmas list I think :)
Paula at Beauty Lover
LOL - that's so true. It's easy to find masks for your face, but not so easy for the eye or lip area :o). Xx
DeleteI use this and your right it is ace. Also, I highly recommend the eye cream.

DeleteYeouch! That's some price tag, but it sounds great, I'll have to stick to my trusty Vaseline :)
ReplyDeletehttp://lipstickandlightening.blogspot.ie/
It is - there's no getting around that, but they do a great deal at QVC at the moment so you get 2 for just under £30 ;o). Xx
DeleteSeems nice! Too bad the price is rather high :( xx
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, but definitely not a budget buy! Xx
DeleteWhat do you think of this in comparison to 8 hour cream?
ReplyDeletesaida xx

I prefer the Gatineau cream since it's much lighter in its consistency and less "vaseline like" and heavy the way the Elizabeth Arden cream is and to be honest I really don't like the smell of the 8 hr lip balm. But that's just my personal view :o) and the Elizabeth Arden balm is good as well. Xx
DeleteThis is a great post for me, cause I am just like you concerning lip balms! I have one next to me now, and when I was reading the post I have just applied a coat of lip balm :) It's good to know about Gatineau, cause I bought a lip balm by Dior last weekend, and it is not good - dries the lip skin in a way that I had to remove the dead skin with tweezers, it hurt, and looks awful after that (and even bleeding!) Will try this one! Thanks for sharing it! denisesplanet com
ReplyDeleteHello Denise and thanks for visiting. I've been tempted to get the Dior Lip balm - again holding back because of the price, but it doesn't sound like it worked at all for you - how horrible! I hope you get them back into shape soon! Xx
DeleteThis product sounds great! My lips always get so dry in the winter so i might check this out :) xx

Thank you so much, Yes it's definitely not a product you want to waste by reapplying 10 times a day, but use if maybe twice and the results are brilliant :o). Xx
DeleteI've never actually heard of this brand before but it sounds fab! I hate when plumping lip products leave that tingling sensation - I always feel like I've been stung by a bee lol.
