July on my mind

I can't believe it's already the end of the month, and since it's raining and grey when I write this I'm getting a small taste of what autumn will bring. But thinking back on July, this is how I remember it - endless blue skies, scorching sun, very little shade and only the occasional breeze to give some relief from the heat. It was amazing and I loved every second of it.

The month started with going to see the Lion King at the Lyceum in London to celebrate my mum's birthday, and it was a fantastic show that I would recommend to anyone! The music and artists were of course outstanding, but what really made it for me was the imaginative and interactive staging. I enjoyed it so much, and even Him Indoors said he would see it again - and he's already seen it twice! I don't think you can get a better review than that...

The heat really slowed the tempo down in July and it was time to enjoy the small, everyday and wonderful things in life, spending lots of time outdoors with family and friends. Weekends were so relaxing, and we might have had the occasional ice cool cider while playing garden games on the lawn - which by the way looks like an African savanna with our very own mini lion stalking dry leaves and butterflies.

July has really had that holiday feel to it, but the lounging in the sun hasn't all been completely carefree, there have been some tough decisions to be made as well - like which sun screen to wear (who am I kidding, with me it's always Hawaiian Tropic) and what shall we put on the BBQ tonight...

I really believe in the energizing powers of the sun and at the end of this month, I've got more energy than a Duracell rabbit, I'm relaxed and more than ready for whatever August brings - Hakuna Matata!
